Five moments, one long trajectory
1965: The original gallery is founded in Park City, Utah.
2001: Meyer Gallery opens in Jackson as an extension of the Park City location.
2002: Mariam Diehl becomes director of the Jackson gallery.
2005: Diehl purchases the business outright.
2008: The gallery is reestablished under its current name, Diehl Gallery.

A point of view, not a style
Today, Diehl Gallery represents an international roster of established and emerging artists working across painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed media. The program moves easily between abstraction and representation, from work informed by the landscape and animal world to art with little obvious connection to the West at all. What unites it is less a particular style than a point of view — one built over 25 years of introducing Jackson Hole to work it didn't necessarily expect to find here, and trusting the audience to meet it.
Art, earlier in the conversation
That breadth has become increasingly relevant as Jackson Hole itself has evolved. Homes have become more architecturally ambitious, interiors more sophisticated, and collectors more willing to juxtapose contemporary work with the materials and visual language of the Mountain West. Art is no longer necessarily the finishing touch. Increasingly, it is part of the conversation from the beginning. Diehl Gallery works closely with collectors as well as architects and interior designers on projects ranging from individual acquisitions to entire collections, commissions, and site-specific installations. Those relationships extend well beyond Jackson Hole, with private, residential, hospitality, and corporate projects throughout the United States and internationally.

Perhaps a willingness to take a chance on something unexpected is also an apt description of the gallery itself.
Twenty-five years after its doors first opened in Jackson, Diehl Gallery continues to evolve: introducing new artists, challenging assumptions about what contemporary art in the West can look like, and connecting collectors with work intended to matter well beyond the moment.
The anniversary is an opportunity to look back. But for a gallery built around discovering what comes next, looking forward is considerably more interesting.
