Diehl Gallery is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and this week is hosting artist David Kammerzell in his first solo exhibit with the gallery.
“Golden Hour” features works in a contemporary Western style, giving a colorful pop to images that viewers might feel acquainted with.
“Kammerzell’s paintings feel both familiar and unexpected,” Mariam Diehl said in an email. “While they draw on iconic Western subjects — cowboys, horses, ranch life and open landscapes — his approach is distinctly contemporary. He creates paintings that are emotionally resonant rather than nostalgic.”
His works, she said, capture “the quiet poetry of everyday moments in the West.
“Whether it’s a lone rider, a gathering of horses, or the glow of late afternoon across the landscape, there’s an authenticity that draws viewers in,” Diehl wrote. “The paintings are technically accomplished, but they also have a warmth and immediacy that make them incredibly engaging.”
There will be an opening reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the gallery on King Street. Kammerzell will be in attendance.
